Vila Viçosa, visit Ducal Palace and Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. Then to Estremoz, founded by King D.Afonso III in 1258. Its economy is based on the alimentary industry and on the marble extraction. Marvão, a medieval village keeping watch over the plain from the top of its castle and beautiful Castelo de Vide, proud of its Jewish quarter of  whitewashed houses.

 

 

 Suggested Itinerary:

Day 1 -  FARO

Arrival at Faro Airport. Pick up  car at car rental desk. Overnight in Faro

Day 2 – ÉVORA

Depart to Évora, cultural centre of Southern Portugal.A walking tour will unveil the artistic treasures of this museum town which is part of the World Heritage:- Roman Temple of Diana, Gothic Cathedral, the Royal Church of S. Francisco and the Ossuary Chapel. Overnight in Évora

Day 3 –  ÉVORA / CASTELO DE VIDE

Depart Évora on route to Vila Viçosa, visit Ducal Palace and Church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. Then to Estremoz, founded by King D.Afonso III in 1258. Day 4 -  CASTELO DE VIDE / CASTELO BRANCO / PENACOVA

Overnight in Coimbra
Depart to Castelo Branco, famous for its quilts, well known since the middle of the XVI century and then to Penacova, commune belonging to the district of Coimbra with beautiful views of Mondego River’ valley.

Day 5 –  PENACOVA / COIMBRA / BATALHA / NAZARÉ

 After breakfast visit  to Coimbra, famous of its old traditions and University, one of the first in Europe. Then a return to the days of the Roman’s occupation wish a visit to Conimbriga ruins. On route to the South a stop in Fátima to visit the town of pilgrimage. Continue to Batalha, visit the Gothic Monastery and then to Nazaré, which is renowned as the most typical fishing village in Portugal.
Overnight in Nazaré.

Day 6 –  NAZARÉ / SINTRA / LISBON

From Nazaré on route to Óbidos, a medieval symbol of narrow streets surrounded by walls and then to the magical town of Sintra. Visit the village and its Villa Palace   Continue to Lisbon. Overnight

Day 7 – LISBON or FARO

Lisbon, the Capital – stroll through the old Alfama quarter, visit St. George Castle and Jeronimos Monastery. After lunch departure to the Algarve. Overnight in Faro Or Lisbon

Day 8 – LISBON or FARO

Departure to Faro or Lisbon Airport and drop off car at car rental desk.
